Virus - trouble

  Mr Scone 19:38 29 Mar 2004

I'm pretty sure I've got this virus click here but cannot detect it or remove it.

The virus has taken out Norton antivirus (wont run) and zonealarm firewall. I'm disconnected from the internet at the moment (using alternative access) butdon't really know what to do. I tried installing AVG but it wont update (followed instructions on site - didn't work) which may or may not be due to the virus.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to get rid please?

it's an online virus scan. make sure u follow the instructions and allow all the prompts when they ask.

it won't remove the virus but it will tell you which one you have if you have one

Thanks for that site - only problem is that i'm currently not online on that computer. When I log on, Vsmon.exe runs at 100% cpu andwont let me do much until I end process. This then means that I can't go online because this .exe has something to do with internet monitoring and is linked to zonealarm. No Vsmon =no internet.

I'll try to get online without ending vsmon.exe and trt that site if I can.

In case that doesn't work...any other suggestions?

Not a good idea to have two anti virus programs on same machine...

Download stinger onto a floppy on the machine you are at now and run it on the other one

Sorry forgot to say run stinger without logging on

Run without logging on? You mean in safe mode?

  Mr Scone 21:10 29 Mar 2004

i've carried out a search for vsmon.exe on google. it is a main part of zone alarm. lots of people have had the same problem as you.

which version of zone alarm do you have?

Yeah just put floppy in and click start, run, type A:\ and follow instructions.
