I run winxp Home (SP2), and have AVG free virus scanner. Can anyone tell me why I get these 2 entries in my scan results please?:

kernel32.dll change
shell32.dll change

Are these doing any harm?

These two entries occur along with a large number of others in the AVG report.
They are not threats to the system.
If you allow AVG to do a complete scan it will indicate whether any threats have been detected...a complete scan of the PC can take 20 odd minutes depending on how many files are to be scanned
Patience mon ami !

These aren't harmful. They're to do with a change in the registry or something. If you press f3 and choose to ignore they will not show next time you scan.

As the others have said its changes its reporting not viruses. Thats all, when you download updates it changes these 2 files and when you run AVG it detects the files have been changed, AVG would also flag other changes in case they were out of the ordinary.
Just ignore them its normal.

Like hiwatt says go to Avg test center and press F3 and choose ignore or whatever it says and it will not appear on any other scans.
