I had a virus on my pc last night & my antvirus deleted trojan. When I went to open my c/ drive it prompted me to format the drive. I done a system restore but it never corrected problem.

Any advice would be most appreciated, thanks.

Do you have the system disk in order to effect a repair? If so chose the nondestructive option to replace the system files then go through the backup it makes to recover any data files you require.

This happened to me last year and wiped out nearly 500 GB's of data, even a repair could not recover them, fortunately I had 90% of the data files backed up to spare hdd's and what was lost I was able to recover from other sources.

I have a retail copy of my operating software rather than a manufactures recovery disc.

As you have a retail copy, do an XP Repair. See:

for details.

However, formatting the drive was perhaps not a wise idea.

Unfortunately, Recuva provided me with the following message - The drive cannot fin the sector requested.

I'm stuck.......
