Virus Detected

On trying to open Windows Media AVG advised virus detected. I run AVG which healed the Trojan Horse. Opening Windows Media again the same, could not open C:\Windows\pup.exe, this time running AVG advised that 2 virus be moved to vault but was unable to do so.

I am left with Trojan horse Downloader.VB.EB and the message File C:\restore\temp\A0294378.CPY and A0294380.CPY can not be removed.

I run Windows ME.

What is my next move please?

1. Close all open programmes.

2. Right-click My Computer on the Windows desktop, and then click Properties.

3. Click the Performance tab.

4. Click File System.

5. Click the Troubleshooting tab.

6. Check Disable System Restore, click OK, and then click Close.

7. Click Yes to restart. This disables the System Restore feature and will purge
the contents of the _RESTORE folder when the system is restarted.

8. After cleaning the infected files, repeat steps 1 through 7, except in step 6,
uncheck Disable System Restore.

Did I miss what was meant by cleaning the infected files?

I ran AVG which found no Virus.

Looked in C:\restore, found no temp file, assumed it was purged.

Re-enabled System Restore, cheched C:\restore again, no temp folder, opened Windows Media Player, to be presented with the trojan.
