Virus Checking Problems (Using AVG Free Edition)

  Jonas Berry 18:15 07 Apr 2004

When I run the Complete Test of AVG Free Edition to check my computer for viruses all goes well until it reaches a file C:\\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache\dmconfig.dll at which point the test stops and my computer freezes. I then have to restart. I have run the test 3 or 4 times and I keep getting exactly the same result. Any idea as to what is going wrong?
My computer is running Window XP Home Edition. I have a 2 GHZ CPU and over 1GB of memory.
As I use the free version of AVG queries such as mine are not answered by e-mail.

You say your computer freezes but how long did you give it to complete the task?

I gave it plenty of time. As the checking proceeds all the files are run through in the box. Once the checking comes to the file I mentioned then the computer freezes totally and needs to be restarted. Like I have said I have repeated the process 3 or 4 times and it always stops and freezes on reaching the file C:\\WINDOWS\System32\dllcache\dmconfig.dll.
