is this a virus?

I recently installed Comodo firewall and Avast anti-virus onto my friend's laptop.

Everything seemed OK then I received a message from Comodo saying 'IEUser.exe' wanted access.

I googled the file as I didn't know what it was and click here says that if the file is located in the 'C:\Windows' or 'C:\Windows\System32' folder there's a strong chance it's a virus, trojan or worm.

The file is located in 'C:\Windows\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft_Windows_IEUser_***************\IEUser.exe'

I scanned with Avast but no threat was found.

Can anyone help please?

It's a normal part of Windows Vista. Find it in program files/internet explorer, 299520 bytes for my SP1 version. The warning is just generic advice, not specific to that file.

The file(s) in the folder you mention are backups & optional components, the kind of thing you would find in the XP I386 and NTUninstall folders.

Thanks for the reply Brundle.

Any idea why the 'C:\Windows' file asked for access and not the 'Program Files' one? Might it be to do with Windows Update?
