Virtual Memory Minimum Too Low

  harleyd 16:27 05 Feb 2006

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me as I seem to be getting fairly regularly the message 'Virtual memory minimum too low'. I'm running an old'ish HP Brio 512mb ram with XP pro and really I only use it for general internet and ebay type stuff. Just recently its got really sluggish and hangs for quite a while before anything seems to happen. If any one can give me a few tips I'd appreciate that. Regards. harleyd

Have you done a virus and spyware scan?

A complete reinstall would be best.

Failing that, click here
and see what programs you can disable at startup.

Also defragment the drive.

Clear out temp files etc. click here

Right click `My Computer`> `Advanced` tab> `Performance`> `Advanced`> `Virtual Memory`> `Change`> `Custom` and you will be able to set your virtual memory to whatever size suits within the limits of your drive(s).

Admin Tools/Computer Management, Right Click/Properties/Performance Options/Virtual Memory/Change/ increase size

Hi, I Wonder if anyone can suggest the best method of clearing old (semi confidential) information off a PC prior to me selling it. Perhaps there are some free programs available suitable for this. Appreciate your assistance on this one.Regards.Harleyd
