Virginmedia speed Rise.

Hi.I am on 2MB with Virginmedia.I usually get 1960kbps download speed. And 187kbps Upload speed. It has been that for about 5 years. Tonight it is 2165kbps download and 241kbps upload not a fantastic difference but going in the right direction.Anyone else with Virginmedia getting better speeds tonight.I am in the Northants area.I have ran the speed test 3 or 4 times to make sure it is not a mistake.I use this speed here

I am at work at the moment but will check when I get home (Solent area) not long had phone call asking if I wanted to upgrade from 2meg to 10meg for £6 a month less.

The one I use is the one that Virginmedia engineers use,I have been using the same one for about 2 years now.And the new speed is still about the same.

Is that £6 less than you are paying just now.Or £6 off the normal price.Whatever it should make a big difference to you.

Virgin keeps sending flyers advertising its new broadband speeds range, coupled with phone and TV services.

However, I'm still pounds better off with TalkTalk's International3/AnyTime Global package (broadband speed minimum 6.5MB and due to get even better soon) and Freeview...:-)

Yes got one of their flyers yesterday.3 months free if you sign on for 18 months.I also get freeview from them at no charge.Although my speed is not up a lot I can see a difference. So every bit helps.

I was on their longterm 3 for 30 offer which included 2meg BB. I contacted Virgin to upgrade to the 10meg speed and this has cost an extra £6.00 per month. I was told by Virgin that this was simply an add-on to my longterm 3 for 30 deal which now cost £36 a month. Speed increase for DL has gone from 250mbs to 1.02gbs.

It's not Freeview as such, which is a digital terrestial broadcasting service i.e. received via a normal TV aerial.

The actual channels on the basic Virgin BB/TV/phone package are:

After you add £11 line rental, it still comes nowhere near TalkTalk for value (even without a TT digital TV service)..:-)
