virgin (ntl) ethernet configuration

  GEOFFTHERE 14:47 15 Nov 2007

I am having trouble with my broadband service and have established that the wiring into the RJ45 plug is loose and probably dropping the signal.

I am quite happy to try and fix a new plug on but it seems as though there may be more than the normal six wires, possibly eight. Any advice appreciated. I was considering gettiung a wall box, wiring their cable up to that and then plugging in a ready made cable which runs to the usb conector.

click here for a good web site that will show you how to line up the wires for a successful ethernet connection , you may need some proper ethernet pliers to complete though .

Forgot to say , most cables are lined up as T568b , second configuration down .
