Virgin email failure

I run XP with SP2, AVG & ZA. Since the 23rd (of June) I've only been able to send emails via virgin.net from one of my two accounts in Netscape 7.2 or Thunderbird 1.5 (getting mail is OK). I have made no changes & all accounts work fine on OE. Virgin support say they only support OE & everything is fine at their end. The error message I get says "...does not match authenticated user name".

The T'bird site forum has many folk complaining of the same thing but no positive fixes. Does anyone on this forum have any probs/ideas/fixes please?

Gave up with Netscape 7.1, it seemed to be something to do with having 2 outgoing servers. got two set up in Thunderbird & all is now OK.

In general, you must always use the SMTP server of the ISP you have connected to the internet with, although this isn't necessary if the ISP whose server you want to use supports SMTP Authentication and you have an account with them.
