Its my Dad's 50th Birthday on Saturday and my idea for a pressy is to get him a turntable that converts cassettes and vinyls to CD - I have no idea what im looking for or where to get it. Can anyone please help me?

You need a USB turntable. Any of the electrical shops sell them (PC World, etc.)
Not sure if they convert cassettes though.

Or if he doesn't havea PC, do you mean something like this? click here

Depending on your budget, you could build up a custom stacking system from someone like Pioneer.

What you need to do is buy a USB turntable or line-in an orthodox turntable to your sound card on the PC. Then, by using NERO or similar software, copy the songs from vinyl and cassette onto your hard drive. After you've done this you can then burn the WAV files onto CD - remember to burn the WAV files at 44.1hz 16 bit or they won't play.
