I cannot seem to view all web pages and believe my 'scripting is not enabled' (got a message saying that!!)

I have looked in Internet Options and wondered if someone could explain what to click etc

Am running Windows XP as well. Want to update Windows but cannot see the site although it says it's done. Also want to run PCPitstop to check things are OK and that said my scripting was not enabled

PCPitstop should have an autofix...

I can get to click here and when i select Windows update the IE box goes clear and says 'Done' - Nowt to see though.

PC Pitstop just tells me it is my active scripting

Have done your first suggestion but all is ok there and scripting is enabled

Am on Broadband with Tiscali and think thye may have a firewall which is stopping things. Could this be the case and if so does anyone know how to disable the firewall

You may need to install 3rd party java runtime components--click here

See if this helps.
