Viewing photos on a DVD disc

I have recd a DVD-R disc which has family photos burned on them on another computer.
However I am unable to view the photos on my laptop with XP and a Sony CDRW/DVD CRX830E drive. On My Computer it shows as CD Drive (D) with a pic of a disc with DVD-ROM written on it. When the cursor is over it, it shows the space used 3.95G. When I click on it, one of two things happens: 1.I get the big black hourglass and then the Non responding dialogue box or 2. the searching torchlight which after almost an hour shows all the folders on the disc. When I try to open any folder, I get the Nonresponding error again.
Strangely the same drive is able to play DVD movies without any problem.
How can I solve this problem? Thanks in advance

Sorry I forgot to add that the disc with photos is a DVD-R disc.

Hi sajeev,

You say the disc is DVD-R, if these disc's are not finalised they can usually only be seen on the computer that wrote them. It could also be a faulty disc.

Try finalising the Disk. One freebie program that does this is 'Imgburn'.

The disc must be 'Finalized' on the machine and program that created it before other equipment will 'See it'

Such a simple and sweet solution!
And it works!
