video capture

can someone help? i've installed a video capture card into my pc so that i can transfer videos to cd. it's an avermedia ezmaker. the problem is that whichever program i use all i get is a blue screen in the capture window. i'm new to computers and i'm getting close to using mine as an ashtray!

Check your settings to make sure that you have set your format correctly. eg. Composite or Svhs and also PAL.

As Audeal says, check the settings.
Is the video switched on AND playing (most won't see the video until its playing), have you used the AV IN or OUT connections (I assume you are running scart to phono leads) - different manufacturers use IN or OUT - try swapping them over.
Post back and I'll see if I can think of anything else.

p.s. hope you have plenty of HDD space (video is HDD hungry)
