I want to hook up my laptop and my smart tv so I can use the tv as a monitor my laptop does not have HDMI though - my laptop has VGA - but when I look at VGA to HDMI cables on amazon nearly all the reviewers say it won't work to hook up a laptop to a tv, any ideas please?

Are you sure the TV doesn't have VGA as well as HDMI sockets?

The reviews you read are correct. VGA is analogue, and HDMI is digital so a simple cable can never work so don't waste your time and money. A VGA-to-HDMI converter box on the other hand might prove satisfactory though.

First check your TV (make and model?) as most TVs have a PC input (VGA)
