VGA to Component

  Megan2682 11:02 07 Sep 2007

Until recently I have been using an S-Video to S-Video to connect my Dell laptop (which is a few years old) to my TV (as an extended monitor) with no problems. But was told that a VGA to component would produce better results, however I can not get it to work.

The TV has been connected to a XBOX360 with no problems, but for some reason will not work with my laptop. After connecting the leads, extending my desktop, and re-booting my computer the TV detects no signal (however it does stop my Digital TV from working properly for some strange reason, with no picture and flickering to the left hand side of the screen until the computer is switched off). However the computer itself is running as if a monitor is there, with the mouse dissapearing of screen if you move it to the right.

The system I'm running is windows XP Professional.

Please Please Help!

With Dell laptop you need to toggle the F8 key with the FN key

Hold down the FN (Function) Key

And press the F8 Key
Each time you press the display will change

Laptop Display only

External Display only

Both External & Laptop Display

It might be set Laptop only no external display
