Validation rules in Access

One of the fields in a table in my Access database is a lookup field which allows users to select a value from a drop down list of the records in another table.

Can anyone tell me how I can validate the input to make sure that even if the user types a value into the box instead of selecting from a dropdown, the value is still one of those featured in the drop down list?

Go into the properties of your combo dropdown box and make sure "Limit to List" is set to Yes should do the trick.

Or open the table relationships and tick "Enforce referential integrity"

or write a small bit of VB code along the lines of

AllowEdit = false

for the dropdown box so they cant type anything into it....limiting them to only the items available in the dropdown.
