My son has just bought a "Driving Test DVD" (Woolworths) for his 17yr old daughter.

It apparently chunters to itself without starting the install procedure though repeated attempts did briefly show something before going sullen.

The laptop is a Sony Vaio running XP and will play other videos as well as burn CDs

This DVD will autoplay and install on my computer.

I have asked him if he has tried finding the DVD in My Computer and double clicking that? He says yes and the same nil response.

It is always a family crisis when something like this happens, (if it isn't actually all my fault, the as now - Why haven't I got the answer at my finger tips!)

Things to do and things to check please.
I must vist, and better have some ideas to try ... or else!

Any ideas to save my reputation?

The original DVD was exchanged by Woolworths.
Apparently no better, but when my son installed this one he selected "never register" and it seems to have installed.
