USRSHUTA.EXE - What's this?

I happened to notice that when I rebooted my machine (XP) I got a pop up about this program being closed down and it took ages.

Sure enough it shows up as a running process in Task Manager and I've found it in Windows\System32. However I can't see what starts it (using msconfig) and I haven't a clue what it does.

Any ideas to satisfy my idle curiosity?

VoG™, according to click here -

It's a 68kb shutdown helper file (*.exe) from U.S. Robotics in Windows\system 32

Thanks Gongoozler

How did you find that?

Do you mean USRSTAT.EXE? If so it's a windows file, not sure what it does though. click here;en-us;q158388 gives a brief explanation

VoG™, I may not know a lot about computers compared with some, but with over 35 years experience as an analogue circuit design engineer I'm quite good at digging out information ;-).

I searched in Google for USRSHUTA which got me to click here, then I searched in that site for USRSHUTA in Windows XP and voila!
