Using a TV as a Monitor

  Strangely Brown 21:55 14 Jan 2004

Hello all,

I'm trying to connect my PC to a TV via an S-Video cable, I know the quality won't be as good as a monitor but it's a short term solution until I have the cash be buy a decent TFT Monitor.

I'm connecting to the TV via a GeForce2 MX440 card and at the moment I can only get a screen resolution of 640x480. If I change to 800x600 then the display distorts and rolls.

Is there something else I need to do to increase the resolution?

I have the latest Nvidia drivers loaded.

Any help in this matter would be much appreciated.

If you have the latest drivers installed, have a look in the control panel for the card, I seem to remember there are some settings in there that will help. Can't check it myself at the mo' as I'm waiting on a new HDD.

You'd do better and save your eyesight by buying a cheap secondhand monitor for temporary use - there's no shortage of such models. Try click here for starters.

The visual presentation of a monitor and a TV are two different worlds.
