A friend of mine is trying to use Outlook Express to receive and send e-mail via a btinternet.com account. In Outlook the incomming mailis set to pop.btinternet.com which works, but the outgoing mail is giving problems with the server address as smtp.btinternet.com. Is this correct and is there anyone who can help sort this out?

incoming is

pop3
mail.btinternet.com

outgoing is

smtp

mail.btinternet.com

at least mine is and works::))

you need to ensure in the outgoing mail section the 'server requires authentication' is ticked; else it will not work::))

try that?

As I am also using BT Yahoo as my Email program would there be any advantage in switching to Outlook Express?

you do need to please start your own thread on this matter and not hijack someone elses::))

sounds like you do not understand things and need guidance...on your own thread
