Message from Hondagrad..............attention all network wizards!!!!!!
OK, this is the situation. We have two computers running XP. (one is a pentium4 2Ghz and the other is a pentium 2, 350mhz) They are connected using 2 NIC cards and cable. The network works hunky-dory, each computer can see each other and share files....no problemo.
However, on the 2nd computer Outlook express will not receive or send emails. It is configured to the same account as the main computer and the 'connect using LAN' box is ticked and all we get is...........'The host 'pop.virgin.net' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop.virgin.net', Server: 'pop.virgin.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D'. Are we missing something obvious here?
Forgot to say that we are on BB. The OE account on the main computer is set as pop.virgin.net and smtp.virgin.net and it works...getting confused now. Changed the mail settings to mail.virgin.net but same message occurs.
just checked the email from Virgin when Richard connected and the settngs are pop and smtp.
