Using internal cd drive externally

Is this possible ?
As I can't get any info about my compaq ipaq cd drive, can I hook up any internal cd drive via cable and leave it on the bench ?
I hasten to add that this would only be a temporary set up while I sort out the installation of m/c control software.

Yes by using a disk enclosure such as these click here however I have to point out you need USB 2.0 for most of them and I haven't personally tried it and don't know if it will work ok under OS like Win 98 for example. Perhaps someone else on the Forum has made one up successfully and can advise.

This will do the job, comes with driver disc for win98, have used one loads of times with no problems.
