Using Excessive Memory?

My laptop seems to be using a whole load of memory even though theres next to nothing on it and a hijack this log has been analaysed and declared clean.

There doesn't seem to be much running at start up I'll post them and system specs further down the page.

Anybody any other ideas that could cause this.

Many Thanks

if you look at your startup list, you have loads of duplicate programmes running try "start up inspector" this will tell what is needed. good luck

Try Process Library Quick Access if you want help identifying what the processes are. click here

Using the programs recommended above I was able to get rid of a few startup and running processes.

I'm still only left with 192mb out of the 512mb.

Is this normal

many thanks

Which of the running processes uses the memory? Right click task bar, Task Manager, processes.

  dads3a 19:20 25 Nov 2006

One of the svchost.exe fluctuates between 40-60mb the rest apart from explorer.exe aren't above 10mb

many thanks

  anskyber 19:25 25 Nov 2006

When you say 40-60mb do you mean its recording under the CPU head? If so that head is a % of your CPU capacity.

  anskyber 19:26 25 Nov 2006

What is the total CPU usage saying at the bottom of the task manager, processes window?

  dads3a 19:29 25 Nov 2006

No the figures are from the memusage column. CPU usage is 22%. !9% of that is I.E.

  anskyber 19:33 25 Nov 2006

Mem usage is a totalling figure. Which are the high CPU readers from that column which reads current call on your CPU?

  dads3a 19:41 25 Nov 2006

Theres no high CPU figures. I've got 2 tabs of I.E running the CPU load is 21%. The memusage figures should read 40000k and 2000k

The PF usage under performance is showing 295mb. Available memory under Physical memory is showing 176788 available.
