Using a database of questions to ...

...generate test papers.

I have been asked to do exactly what the thread title says. The questions exist and are used in printed test papers (written by ourselves, so no copyright problems). We want to be able to produce papers that contain questions relating to a particular area for testing, but which will possibly only used as a one off. Also we could use the same process to prepare tests containing only those questions which have not been answered correctly in previous tests.

Should I use Excel or Access to store the question bank? If Excel would I need to record a macro (I am rubbish at macros) to do this? If Access … just how would I do it?

Bear in mind that the users would not be especially computer proficient, so whatever is used needs to be user friendly.

All help gratefully received.

Thanks
Mike

Which ever way, you will need some form of randomising to select which questions out of a qualifying set will appear in any one paper. click here for some ideas on how to do this.
