I have read somewhere that power adaptors used for networking must be on the same ring main!!

I have an office with a clean power supply but also got kit in living room, blu ray, freesat etc.

Power network adaptors do not need to be on the same ring main circuit to work as long as they are connected to the same incomming supply point they can be on different ring main circuits there are distance limitations which will lower maximum through put

They will not work on two different incomming supply points which are fed from different phases
