usbs problem on laptop

hi all

ive had a HP laptop for 3 months now and now when i connect up a external harddrive to the usb port it works 5 min then disconnects and reconnects so any big files cant be fully transfered ive tried differant cables and drives but still a problem. when i connect my mouse up or anything else no problems just harddrives?

it also only happens on files over 2-3gb

device manager - right click the drive - properties - power tab - untick Allow the computer to turn off...

do the same for the USB ports.

i went into device manager and went into their properties and the power tab had no allow the computer to turn off box?

the usb ones were all unticked when i went into them but the hard drive didnt come up with one
