Quick question: will my mobo support USB2?
Asus A7A266-E
XP pro

No, the onboard USB ports are USB1 but you could add a USB 2 card available from, eg here :-

Have added a NEC USB2 card. Device Manager sees it and says evrything is functioning normally except when I plug in a device such as a printer I get an error message saying that it will work quicker if I connect to a USB2 port! I've uninstalled all the drivers and let Windows reinstal them on boot up. Same error message. Any ideas?

Which Operating System are you using ?

XP pro

I suspect that XP pro is installing USB1 drivers for your printer as it is "seeing" your Asus board with its USB 1 ports.

Try installing the printer using the drivers supplied with the printer rather the ones built into XP. (or better still download the latest driver from the manufacturer's site )

XP definitely supports USB 2 cards natively. Either your Windows USB 2 update is missing, the card is duff, or as above the card needs its own specific drivers.

I've always used Belkin USB 2 cards without any special drivers.
