USB trouble

I have a Trust trackball with PS/2 connection, it works fine pluged into the PS/2 port on my laptop but used with a USB convertor the device is not recognised. I use the machine with a PS/2 keyboard, so need to connect the trackball through USB. The operating system is XP Pro with SP1. Other USB devices like camera and modem work fine so the ports are configured ok.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Is the USB plug the original one for the trackball, as using a general converter can sometimes cause problems.

have you tryed reinstaling it through the converter?

The golden rule abut USB devices is always install the drivers first leave the disc in the drive then plug in the device if you are running xp you do not need to reboot connect device and it will be detected

Thanks for the replies.
I am not sure whether the convertor came with the trackball, I have loads of them, I will try going through them all.
As for drivers, this device came without any and as I have always up until now used it on a PS/2 port I have not needed any. I will have a look and see if I can find any on the web.
In case anybody has come across a driver it is a Trust model num FDM-G10 P.
