USB stick 'device not recognised'

I had a USB 2Gb pen drive I put all my files on it the next time I plugged it in (tried on several computers) I get the message 'USB device not recognised'
I go into the device manager and it tells me there are no device drivers installed. I have an identical USB device albeit without all my files on it and it works fine.
Can anyone help me to either get this device working or know a way to retrieve my files (work related and needed!!)

Many thanks
Dave

Fruit Bat /\o/\ I have downloaded the software and it needs the drive letter but the problem is because it is not recognised it is not given a drive letter

remove drive
Use Drive clean up to remove USB device drive info from the registry
replug in drive it should then be recognised.

Tried this, plugged in the USB pen drive but it was still not recognised, took it out then plugged in a second USB, this one was recognised straight away. I am guessing the pen drive is done for along with the files

I get the box at the bottom right with the USB symbol then a text box pops up and says unrecognised USB device, reconnect the device, or replace the device. Nothing appears in disc manager
