USB on older system

Is it possible,using a usb port card,to upgrade a pentium 166.I ask because a friend has a digital camera and would like to use a card reader.The system is running win 95.

See click here - USB expansion cards are not supported by W95, only USB ports that are an integral part of the motherboard.

Hi Allin. You need Windows 98se or later for reliable USB operation, but some older motherboard's BIOS doesn't give reliable operation even with a PCI USB card. There have been some serial port card readers made, but these are difficult to find. Users of Sony Memory Stick can get a device to fit into a floppy drive that can read the Stick, but this is about £60. I don't know of a similar device for other formats. I had this same problem and eventually gave up and fitted a new motherboard and processor.
