USB Mouse problem

  OldChalkie 20:38 16 Sep 2006

I have WinXP with a Microsoft USB mouse. This has worked fine until the last week, when on startup the mouse is not working. I have to re-boot and all is ok. I have checked connection and have no new software or system changes that I know of. Anyone any ideas? I have Bullguard Antivirus (updated daily) Windows Defender as well as Spybot. All report clean system.
Thanks in advance,

REfresh USB ports by uninstalling EVERTHING under the heading USB in device manager.

then reboot the PC let XP reinstall all the root hubs and mouse etc.

should then be OK next time you boot up.

Thanks for that Fruit Bat. Will I have to reload the USB external drive drivers?

yes if it doesn't find the hardware and reload them from the driver folder.
