Is a usb mobile modem much faster than a mobile phone on the net? I can connect my mobile phone to my laptop to access the net, but i am thinking of purchasing a mobile modem instead as my phone is only 200mb per month maximum, which is pretty poor. This is on o2. I know other companies have better deals but i do not want to switch networks. I do not want to use a home phoneline for the internet so i thought a mobile modem would be a better option. How does it compare to net access via a mobile phone? Thanks for any info

You probably get about 1.1Mbit/sec out of it, nowhere near the reported speeds of 3.6Mbit/sec as I don't think the service has started yet.

They are expensive to buy and run however very portable.
If you are only using from home then BB on cable or phone line is much cheaper.
