Hi, have you tried it in a different usb port?

  Technotiger 20:43 18 Feb 2007

and are you using a front or rear usb port?

hi technotiger, its been tried in all 4 rear usb ports, my front ports are not connected in the pc, and other devices such as flash pens work in all the ports

When you reboot ,Go into devise manager,See if there are any yellow marks beside keyboards,If so up-date driver see if that helps.

Also try with a ps2 adapter if possible.....

If you had any software on the system regarding the old keyboard, you may have to remove this first so windows will recognise the new keyboard.

The ps2 adaptor is the green plug that the usb slots into and then insert into the round hole....

Hmmm, buteman and skidzy have both given good suggestions, I think perhaps as skidzy says that it might be old keyboard software confusing your pc.

Also look in Control Panel>Keyboard check the options and the Hardware tab there.

in keyboard on control panal, it says standard 101/102 key natural, underneath that HiD keboard device, no software came with my old keyboard, only that was loaded on pc, and will get my mrs to go into device manager tomorrow...thanks all

If I understand what you have just said, Control Panel Keyboard is showing two keyboards - I would remove the Standard 101/102, ie delete that one.
