What sort of USB device?

You will not get one for a printer or scanner, but Camera Cards, External Hard Drives etc you will. Right Click on Task Bar, Properties, Customise and click on Safely remove Hardware. Then select always show and OK your way out

Do you mean the "safely remove icon"

Use the following steps to show the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon in Windows XP:

Right-click the taskbar and select Properties.

Click Customize Button

Note: If Customize buton is greyed then check the Hide inactive icons.

Locate and highlight Safely Remove Hardware.

Click the down arrow and select Always Show.

Cick Ok and then click OK again.

If that fails try this,

If you want an Icon that will bring up the Safely remove Hardware window, just right click on the desktop and choose new Shortcut, then in the location field type

%windir%\System32\RUNDLL32.EXE shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll, and save, then just click.
