usb headset

Hi guys,(and girls) it's been a while

I have got a usb headset (free with a subscription to PC Gamer). My problem is, when I disconnect it from the pc or laptop I get an error that says Windows Explorer has encounted a problem and needs to close. Now I know that you need to "safely remove hardware" but there is no icon in the taskbar (like you normally get)to do this with, and I have looked in "my computer" to find the headset and disable it, but there's nothing there. Does anyone have any bright ideas?

you could put it back..

click on Start, Run..., and type in:

RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll

And press OK.

what does that do?

You don't need a "safe to unplug" icon with a headset - as you cannot corrupt any data by plugging it in or removing it. My Logitec headset doesn't show one either (nor does it crash the system)

So the icon is not the problem. I suspect something about the headset itself if it happens on two different machines.

Thanks....I'll do some research.
