usb headers?

can anyone help me? i recently looked at a friends pc
i fixed his problem but having done so i pulled off the usb headers, i have downloaded a manual it shows where the cables connect but the cables are not numbered they are colour coded, red ,white, green ,black, this does not help the pins are usb pwr,usb neg signal,usb pos signal, ground can anyone shed any light on these? thanks in advance

Red Goes to USB pos, Black goes to USB ground, if you get these right just try the white and green till it works. If you switch red and black you will blow the USB on the Mobo, no way back other than fitting a PCI USB card then

I would Go Red usb Pos, white signal pos next to red then green then black on ground

everyones got the same conclusion so i will try it later and post my sucsess (i hope)
by the way it is an old ecs board (never liked them myself but there you go)
