USB Flash drive showing as local drive

I need to use my USB flash drive to set up my wireless network, to transfer files from one PC to another. The drive appears in my computer as a local drive rather than a removable one. That means that the network wizard (XP Home) doesn't list it as an option to transfer files. I think I am missing something obvious but can someone give me a nudge in the right direction?
Thanks

I don't know how I did it, but it now appears as a removable drive. Thanks anyway.

Hi Don3002, some flash drives have a small switch on the side to protect the contents from being removed. I believe this will change the status of the drive. You may have accidentally switched it off???
