Recently had to reformat an old PC that was configured to connect wirelessly to a wireless router (BT Voyager). Everything was working fine pre formatting, but since reformatting I cant get a connection. Nothing has changed on the router side, SSID & passwords are the same, channels too.
All I can think of is that in the process of reinstalling the wireless USB dongle (a Netgear WG111) the device was disconnected from the PC without following the normal USB disconnection routine required by Windows XP. Is it likely that this could have disrupted the WG111 to the extent it won' recognise any wireless networks?
The USB device is recognised by the PC, but when scanning for networks none are found (previously our own and a couple of neighbours were being identified).
Any input you can have would be appreciated, I have tried reinstalling several times to no avail.
