USB cables

Every time I connect my camera or phone to the computer with a usb cable my computer does not auto detect the device. Have I turned something off by accident?

Are the USB ports enabled in BIOS ?

where would i find that?

Sorry, on reflection that wasn't very helpful of me ! Do any of your USB devices work when connected to the PC, or is it just the camera and 'phone ? If none work, then the USB ports may need to be "switched on" in the Setup BIOS.

They worked but I have since had an internet connection and added anti virus

Connecting my camera with USB, I don't see anything happening until looking in my computer, where I will find the camera as a removable disk with its own drive letter (usually last in the series).

Or do you mean you can't find the camera at all?

Mine's the same as yours cheers

I would not expect a pop-up notice now.
You haven't lost or changed aything.

Perhaps you mean the computer "Found New Hardware"?
Maybe the first time, but now Windows has the drivers in place you won't see that notice any more.

I usually copy the pics to a HD folder, or if I'm in a hurry, open them straight away with my 'picture polishing' program .
