I have bought an Iomega 250Gb desk hard drive. I have a Medion computer the manual of which says it has USB2 ports but wherever I plug it I get a message saying that it would go faster with a USB2 port. How can I work out if I really do have USB2 ports?

start - settings - control panel - system - hardware - device manager.

Scroll down to the USB click the + check if there is a driver that is labeled "Enhanced".

This is the USB2 driver

Sorry. Just got back from the cinema. (Don't see Sahara it's tosh)

Found a file called D:\Driver\Patches\USB Resume\Active PME USB Under XP.reg. I've run that and it says it has written to the registry.

Do I have to restart?

Yes and then try it

Still getting low speed message. I've tried all 5 USB ports (3 front, 2 back).

Well I have a Medion Desktop and Laptop and no problems with USB2 I use a Eternal USB2 drive. Check Drive D:\ again to see if you can find anything in Medion Folders

There is mention of a SiS PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller, Fruit Bat. Says it's working properly.

Come to think of it I have a USB2 256 stick and that doesn't give an error message
