Upload through the roof!!!

  smartster_1 20:10 12 Oct 2009

I have recently (last fortnight) had my upload gone crazy. It has been uploading approx. 2GB a day even though nobody is in the house. When I unplugeed the PC it stopped but i've run numerous virus scans and it returned nothing. Can anyone tell me what it could be and how to think it.

It sounds like you are running peer 2 peer software i.e. emule, limewire, utorrent, bittorrent etc.

Check out your Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and look for p2p software processes.

Thanks for the fast reponse however there are np P2P clients running.

Any other suggestions?

Have you tried Task Manager like tech guy said.
That should tell you what is running.
ctrl alt delete on my computer.
Maybe try Malwarebytes free version and see if that finds any problems.

I will download malwarebytes and get back to you with the results

Also look at all your start-up programs and services and uncheck the ones you think could be causing this. If you are unsure about the items shown in the start-up list, it's best to have a Google around to find out what they are and if they are needed on start-up.

Go to START - RUN - type in msconfig - click OK - click on STARTUP tab, then click on SERVICES tab once you have looked through the start-up applications.
