Upload speed faster than download?

This is weird! Just picked up a new wireless router from Dabs, a Belkin ADSL Modem with Wireless G Router. If I use my USB modem then I get downloads of around 300Kb per sec, whereas with the new router I'm getting nearer 40Kb per sec.

This is actually slower than the upload speed, the upload speed is perfectly acceptable!

Anyone any ideas what I'll need to do to increase this? The PC is actually connected through a cable, the wireless part is just for my laptop, although performance is the same on both.

Try comparing the line stats from both devices. Post back with the results. This may help in finding them click here Maybe the Belkin is reading your line wrong or it could be faulty. I saw a similar case recently.

I've just borrowed a friends router and I have the same problem, and I've just tried the USB modem. It says that it's connected at 3Mbps but a download speed test shows it's the same poor performance as the other two.

Nothing else in the setup has changed, so perhaps Pipex are having a bad day?

Anyone on Pipex who can confirm this?

Looks like it was a line fault caused by the extreme weather. All ok now.
