Upgrading Power Supply

Hello, I have problems with my PC shutting down intermittently, especially soon after startup. I have been advised that it is probably a power problem and to change the PSU. I would be looking at replacing the current 250W model with a 400W. Will this be OK, and will any additional work have to be done?

A 400w psu should be ample for your needs .

A few screws and half a dozen plugs its an easy upgrade

Before switching on check voltage selector switch is set to 240 volts.

nothing else need be done other than fitting it. Before you spend out though I suggest you check to see if the fan on the cpu is working. This will also shut you down if the cpu overheats. Sometimes it is intermitant and it runs for a few minutes. Take the side off and look at it.

Thanks to all for the advice. I appreciate it.

Could be the power supply fan, not starting up or intemittent start. Maybe a 300w Power Supply would do but I think there is only around £4.00 difference for 400W
