It says

CPU

• Supports 64-bit AMD® Athlon64/64FX processor (Socket 939)
• Supports 3000+, 3200+, 3400+, 3500+, 3800+, 4000+, FX53 and FX55

surely that means it will?

Actually it doesn't thanks mate.

i am trying to think if 939 is am2 and i don't think it is, perhaps someone can help me here but i don't think it is. it doesn't mention dual core support either as far as i can see.

That'll only take S939 CPUs - X2 chips will work, but not AM2.

Full compatibility list click here.

I think your best bet may be eBay. Careful not to pay over the odds though. G

There is no point in upgrading if i caqn only put in a 4000+ which if im right is 2.1 ghz? may aswel stick to what i have a 1.9

  GaT7 20:24 29 Sep 2008

If you notice from the list the best X2 is a 4800+, which is 2.4Ghz & DUAL-core.

If installing a dual-core, make sure your BIOS is updated to the latest click here - according to the list, only v3.8 & above supports dual-core CPUs. G

What's your current CPU & system spec?

Is there a specific reason you're thinking of upgrading the present CPU? There are other ways to improving system performance. G

amd 64 1.9 ghz

512 ram

Looking to upgrade my ram, 512 isnt that much nowadays. and was just looking a faster processor.

Why what else could i do? just upgrade my memory?
