I ran windows XP setup on a pc which currently has windows ME installed. I got a message saying that having two opperating systems was not recommended. I was expecting XP to overwrite ME. How do i resolve this problem please?

Are you using an XP upgrade disk or the full XP?

Full XP

you should get the option to upgrade or install when you first run the CD. If you missed that and chose install then it's likely that the old OS files would not be overwriten. Try again and check. You may have to choose to delete the existing partition.

Before loading XP make sure your PC is up to spec click here for Microsoft's recommendations, many of us think that they're rather optimistic. 256Mb being a more usable minimum RAM figure, some even go as far as to suggest 512, though I use 256 equipped machines that are OK.
