Upgrading intel processor

I have an e-machines 270 pc,which has an intelceleron cpu 1.70 ghz processor.
Ive added a ge force graphics card and more memory but it still runs slow on my game.
Iwant to up grade my intel processor but an unsure which one i should get as i was told i should only go to the next equivilant processor up.

I think you can go to 2.2Ghz but quite honestly I think that it is better to save for a new system

You will find little difference if you upgrade the processor to 2.2 and the games that are being produced today are designed for over 3Ghz

Ive got NVIDIA GEFORCE FX5200 graphics card which ive just updated from NVIDIA wesite.

I agree with 961 your prob far better to save up for a new system celeron processors really aren't for gaming
