Sorted with help from here a Graphics Card, now I would like to upgrade the Processor, here goes,

I have a GA-71XE Gigabyte Motherboard, with AMD 751/756 chipset, according to the manual this supports 500MHz-1GHz and faster, looking into Tuneup utilaties it say's Intel Pentium 4 2.6GHz-2.6MHz with L2 cach 512kb.
What I would like to know is if I wanted to upgrade to the best this motherboard will allow what should I go for cause it's flumoxed me, I'm not sure what the heck size of processor is actually running in the machine !
In the manual I think the 751 refers to the AGP Graphics, so am I right in saying that I can buy a processor above the 756 and up to 1GHz and faster (but how fast) got to go now as I'm feeling sick and dizzy with all this lot !
It is a Median (Aldi machine) bought 3 years ago and it has been brilliant,

Thanks to anyone who can put up with me,

Personally i don't think your going to see much speed increase whatever processor you put in.

And there's no way way that mobo will take a 2.4ghz pentium your mobo has support for slot A for AMD® -K7 Athlon 200MHz FSB processors
90*/95*/100/105*/110*/115* MHz FSB
AUTO detect CPU voltage, so i don't know where tuneup utilities got that from.

If I were you and others may disagree but a mobo bundle with a 2400 sempron for around £100 will speed things up no end.

here is a list your motherboard can support. Please note the bios version and also those it will not support. Look and research carefully before you make a decision. click here
