Just bought the new Anno 1701 and my computer is not compatible. I want to upgrade but don't know much about it.

My computer: Compaq SR 1209 UK
Windows XP
Celeron D 330 2.66Ghz
RAM 256Mb PC2700 MB/sec 184 pin, DDR SDRAM
Video: Integrated with up to 64 MB allocated video memory
56 GB free hard drive

Min requirements:
Operatingsystem: Windows® 2000 or Windows® XP
Processor: 2,2 GHz Intel Pentium 4® or equivalent processor
System memory: 512 MB RAM
Video card: 64 MB with 1.1 pixel shader
Free hard drive space: 3,5 GB
DVD-ROM: 4x
Sound card: DirectX® 9.0c-compatible
DirectX: Version 9.0

Recommended requirements:
Processor: 3 GHz Intel Pentium 4® or equivalent processor
System memory: 1 GB

My conclusions after a night of research:
CPU- seems ok?
RAM- need much more- want to add 1GB- seems i need SDRAM PC 2700 or 3200 (is that all i need when i go to a shop?)

Graphic card- need a new one- am completely lost with this, but ATI seems better than Gforce for this game

PSU- will i need a new one for a better video, how do i find out what i have?

If anybody can give me some advice that would be great!

Thanks

Let Crucial tell you what memory you require; click here

Not sure about good ATI cards, I've always bought Nvidia; any card from the Geforce 6xxx range will do - Pixelshader 3.0 on those. I'm sure someone could suggest the equivalent ATI alternative.
You may find this a useful read too; click here

You don't need a spectacularly powerful card for that game by the sys requirements.

Recommended video card = 256mb, 2.0 pixel shader.

hzhzhzhz ; well worth a mention, I should have looked more closely;

sola123; looked like an interesting title, so i grabbed the demo -
my athlon 2600/1gb/6600gt 128mb defaults to medium quality visuals at 1024x768,
the graphics are smooth and incredibly
detailed but to correct my earlier post, you'd benefit from more video memory,
and the game is so full of detail it could easily push my setup to its limits.

Crucial tells me i can have 2Gb RAM PC 2700 or 3200, my manufacturer says max 1Gb PC 2100 or 2700???

Also what exact specs do i need to make sure i get compatible memory?

Did you like it brundle? I don't play games apart from this one- and i'm addicted to it...

if you have one, check the motherboard manual as that should tell you what type of RAM you can install
