Upgrade Memory

  Doodles 09:09 06 Nov 2005

I would like to add more memory to my PC.
It is running on 512mb (PC3200 DDR SDRAM). On looking inside PC i have 4 slots with 2 filled with 2 x 256mb DDR.
What i am not sure is, what can i add to up memory. Do i have to add another 2 x 256 cards or can i add 1 x 512 card.

I hope that makes sense. Any advice would be appreciated.

You can add one 512mb card which will give you 1Gb of RAM and will probably be cheaper than 2x256mb cards. depending on the make of your mobo you should be able to go up to 2Gb of RAM.

An easy way to be sure is to go to click here and enter your motherboard details. They will give you details of all the RAM that you can use and also give you excellent service!

Can you recommend any type please.
There seems to be quite a few cards that are similar.
My PC is a Intel P4, 3066Mhz

Once again, Many thanks

Do you by any chance have dual channel memory? If so, you will need another 2 x 256mb

Everest will identify your motherboard; then go to Curcial again.

As an alternative, go to crucial and download the program they have that will identify your type of RAM.

Run click here - it will tell you the manufacturer and model of your motherboard. Enter that on the Crucial site.

When on crucial, select "scan my system"
